[IMPORTANT] Stop creating issues here, use the Shopify Community forum instead #2521
Comments
@kirakik - will existing issues be migrated over? I've still got a number of open issues which are unresponded to. What's the expectation here? Are we to re-create them? |
If they you haven't received a response here - yes, please do repost them in the community forum. For context, the community forum is actively monitored and folks on different teams are responsible for answering there on a daily basis. This repo's issues were never actively monitored, and we have sometimes missed issues because they were only reported here. |
@kirakik, I can understand that, and I'm looking forward to more active engagement with the Shopify team, but it's a bit frustrating we have to move everything. You say in your original message that the tab will "eventually disappear". Can you provide any detail on how long we have to transfer the issues over? Will it be significantly after the new year period, or do we need to complete it by Christmas? |
No need to complete it by Christmas, we will keep the tab for several more months! |
I’m not really a fan of the forums. I posted two threads and got no replies or even any acknowledgment. At least here, issues are tagged, so I know someone has seen them. |
There is an internal expectation that all teams need to reply to questions in their areas on the community forum as soon as possible, so this shouldn't be happening. Feel free to ping me directly in the forum if you haven't received an answer in a few days, and I'll make sure the right team takes a look! |
it's unfortunate that an internal process is leading to a sub par experience for the customers you are serving. I find the forum to be hard to use, and so i'm less likely to engage - it's also one more place i have to remember to go. I hope that engineering leaders at the company would reconsider this and prioritize meeting customers where they are over internal processes. |
@matthops I understand your frustration with using a new tool, but the issues in this repository were very often off topic, so the relevant teams would rarely actually be involved. Teams were also not notified of the issues posted here by any means, so many bugs went unnoticed regularly. The more tools teams at Shopify have to check, the less timely answers will be. Everything is now centralized in the community forum, which makes it a lot easier for teams to keep track of issues and answer questions quickly. The new community forum will provide a much better developer experience than this repo ever did, and we've heard from many partners that they're very happy with how much more proactive teams have been in the new forum. I locked the conversation as this isn't something we are planning on changing at this point. |
This repository is no longer the right place to post questions, feature requests and bug reports. GitHub issues created here will not be monitored, and the "Issues" tab here will eventually disappear.
Please use the Shopify Community forum moving forward.
